Below is a detailed list of all the 50 states of the United States of America. We shall give relevant information about each state mentioned in this list.

Alabama (AL) - Montgomery
It is called the "Heart of Dixie" and the "Cotton State". The state tree is the longleaf pine, and the state flower is the camellia.
Location/Geography: It has a land area of 131,426 km² making it the 30th largest state in the United States and Largest state in East South Central region. It is located on Latitude 30°11' N to 35° N and Longitude 84°53' W to 88°28' W. Alabama shares boarders with Tennessee to the north; Georgia to the east; Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south; and Mississippi to the west. Huntsville is the largest city in Alabama in terms of land area.
Population: With a population of over 4.9m people Alabama is the the 24th most populated state in USA. The population of Alabama is composed of 65% whites, 27% African Americans, Hispanics or 4.6% Latinos and 1.5% Asians. The city of Birmingham is the most populated city in Alabama.
Tourism and important facts: The 16th Street Baptist Church in the city of Birmingham's was a protest headquarters in the 1960s, it is now a museum. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s church and the Rosa Parks Museum, dedicated to the activist, can be found in the capital of Montgomery. Its major mineral resources are iron and steel.
Alaska (AK) - Juneau
It is one of the last two states to be admitted into the union. It was admitted in 1959 as the 49th state in the USA. Alaska is also called "The Last Frontier" or "Land of the Midnight Sun" or "Seward's Icebox" as nicknames while the state's motto is "North to the future".
Location/Geography: With a land area of 1,723,336 Alaska is the largest state in the US and also the state with the longest coastline. It is located in the Pacific region on Latitude 51°20'N to 71°50'N; Longitude 130°W to 172°E and does not share boarder with any other state in the country. It shares border with Canada's Yukon and British Columbia to the east, the Gulf of Alaska and the Pacific Ocean to the south and southwest, the Bering Sea, Bering Strait , and Chukchi Sea to the west and the Arctic Ocean to the north. The largest city in Alaska is Anchorage.
Population: It is the least densely populated and the third least populated (48th in the rank of most populated) state with a population of 732,000 people. It has the highest percentage of American Indians and Alaska Natives (15.6%), 66.7% whites, 3.3% African Americans, 5.4% Asian.
Tourism and important facts: Alaska has over 3million lakes. It has great tourist attraction sites such as the Denali National Park, Tracy Arm Fjord, Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska Highway, University of Alaska Museum of the North, Inside Passage, Dalton Highway, Alaska Native Heritage Center.
Arizona (AZ) - Phoenix
It joined the United States on February 14, 1912 as the 48th state to join the union. Its nicknames are "The Grand Canyon State"; "The Copper State"; or "The Valentine State"
Location/Geography: Arizona has a land area of 295,233 making it the sixth largest state by land area in USA. It is located in the mountain region on Latitude 31°20′ N to 37° N and Longitude 109°03′ W to 114°49′ W. It shares borders with Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico; with Nevada and California to the west and the Mexican states of Sonora and Baja California to the south and southwest. The largest city in Arizona is Phoenix, its capital.
Population: Arizona's population is around 7,279,000 making it the 14th most populated state in the country. About 32% of population are Hispanic or of Latino Origin. About 75% of its population speak English, 20% speak Spanish while Navajo and other languages account for the rest.
Tourism and important facts: Arizona And Hawaii are the two U.S. states that do not observe Daylight Saving Time although the large Navajo Nation in the Arizona's northeastern region does observe it. Tourist attractions includs the The Grand Canyon, Cathedral Rock near Red Rock Crossing in Sedona, Sonoran Desert at Saguaro National Park, The San Francisco Peaks seen from Bellemont, Blue Mesa at Petrified Forest National park, The Horseshoe Bend of the Colorado River, West Mitten at Monument Valley; and other amazing sites.
Arkansas (AR) - Little Rock
Also called "The Natural State" (its official nickname, it became a member of the United States in 1836 as the 26th state to join the union.
Location/Geography: It is the 29th largest state having a land area of about 137,730km². It is located in the West South central on Latitude 33° 00′ N to 36° 30′ N, Longitude 89° 39′ W to 94° 37′ W. Arkansas share borders with Louisiana to the south, Texas to the southwest, Oklahoma to the west, Missouri to the north, and Tennessee and Mississippi to the east. The largest city in Arkansas is Little Rock.
Population: With a population of
3,018,000, Arkansas is the 33rd most populated state in the country. A population consisting 72% Whites, 15.7% African American, 7.8% Hispanic or Latino, 1.7% Asian and 1% Native American. The most populated city in Arkansas is Little Rock (its capital).
Tourism and important facts: Arkansas has about 59 parks, 52 of which are maintained by the state while the National Park Service maintains seven. Some of them include the Cedar Falls in Petit Jean State Park, Buffalo national river, Arkansas air museum, Mammoth spring state park, Crystal bridges museum of American art, Blanchard springs cavern, mount magazine state park, Little Rock Central High School, William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum.
California (CA) - Sacramento
It joined the Union in 1850 and its nickname is the "Golden state".
Location/Geography: It has a land area of about 423,968km² making it the 3rd largest state by area in USA, the Largest state in mainland US Pacific Region and one of the three states in US mainland with a coastline at the Pacific Ocean. It is located on Latitude 32°32′ N to 42° N, Longitude 114°8′ W to 124°26′. It share boarders with Oregon to the north, Nevada to the east and northeast, Arizona to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west and it shares an the Mexican state of Baja California to the south.
Population: California has a population of about 39,512,000 making it the most populous US state. 39.4% of its entire population are Hispanics or Latinos and 15.5% Asian American making it the state with the highest Asian American population. About 58.1% of the people in California speak English, 28.8% speak Spanish while other languages make up the remaining 13.1%. The most populated city in California is Los Angeles having a population of over 18million people.
Tourism and important facts: If California was to be a country, it would have the fifth largest economy in the world. It has the largest state economy in the UK and; the largest sub-national economy in the world having a GDP of $3.9trillion as at 2019. It has great tourist destinations like; San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite National Park, Disneyland, Death Valley National Park, Big Sur, Lake Tahoe, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, Redwood National and State Parks.
Colorado (CO) - Denver
Colorado was admitted into the United States in 1876. It's nicknamed "The Centennial State", and "Colo"
Location/Geography: It is the 8th largest state in the US, having a land area of 269,837 km². It is located in the mountain region on Latitude 37°N to 41°N Andrew Longitude 102°02′48″W to 109°02′48″W. Colorado it shares boarder with Wyoming to the north, Nebraska and Kansas to the northeast and east respectively, Oklahoma and New Mexico to the southeast and south respectively, Utah to the west, and touches Arizona to the southwest. Colorado and Utah are the two states in USA that have straight borders which seem to form a rectangle.
Population: Colorado has an estimated population of 5,759,000 making it the 21st most populous state in the country.
This population consists 68% white, 22% Hispanics or Latino, 4.6% African-American, and 3.5% Asian. The most populous city in Colorado is Denver, its capital.
Tourism and important facts: The state has amazing tourist destinations such as the Rocky Mountain national park, Mesa Verde national park, Dinosaur National Monument, Pike National Forest, Garden of the gods, Durango and the Silverton Narrow Gage Railway, Mount Evans, San Juan Skyway Scenic Byway and the Million Dollar Highway, Black Canyon of the Gunnison National park, Maroon Bells-Snowmass wilderness, Aspen, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and, the Colorado National Monument.
Connecticut (CT) - Hartford
"The Constitution State" being its official nickname, Connecticut joined the union in 1788 as the 5th member state.
Location/Geography: It is the 48th state by land area having a land area of 14,357 km². It is located in the New England region on Latitude 40°58′ N to 42°03′ N
Longitude 71°47′ W to 73°44′ W and share boarders with Rhode Island to the east, Massachusetts to the north, New York to the west, and the Long Island Sound to the south. The largest city in Connecticut is Bridgeport.
Population: With a population of 3,565,287, it is the 29th state by population. The population consists 71.2% Non-Hispanic White , 6.4% White Hispanic, 10.1% African American, 0.3% Native American and Alaska Native; and 3.8% Asian.
Tourism and important facts: While in Connecticut as a tourist, do well to visit any of these destinations; Mystic Seaport, Yale University Museums, Mystic Aquarium & Institution for Exploration, Gillette Castle State Park, The Mark Twain House & Museum, Lake Compounce, Family Theme Park, Wadsworth Atheneum, Submarine Force Museum and the USS Nautilus. Those are all amazing places to see in Connecticut.
Delaware (DE) - Dover
Delaware joined the US in 1787 as the first member state of the USA. Its official nickname is "The first state"
Location/Geography: It is the second smallest state with a land area of (
5,130 km². It is located in the South Atlantic region on Latitude 38° 27′ N to 39° 50′ N, Longitude 75° 3′ W to 75° 47′ W.
Delaware share boarders with Pennsylvania to the north; by Delaware River, Delaware Bay, New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean to the east; Maryland to the west and south. The largest city in Delaware is Wilmington.
Population: It is the 46th state in terms of population size i.e the fifth least populated state in the US having an estimated population of about 974,000. It consists 61.9% White, 23% African American, 9.5% Hispanic or Latino, 4.1% Asian and 0.7% Native American.
Tourism and important facts: some of the amazing tourist destinations you should visit while in Delaware include Winterthur Museum and Gardens. Winterthur Museum and Gardens, Rehoboth and Delaware Beaches, Hagley Museum and Library, Nemours Mansion and Gardens, Delaware Art Museum, John Dickinson Plantation, Air Mobility Command Museum, Brandywine Zoo. Apart from the fact that you can shop tax-free in Delaware, it is home to nice looking beaches if you're a beach lover.
Florida (FL) - Tallahassee
Location/Geography: It is the 22nd largest state by area having a land area of 170,312 km². It is located in the South Atlantic region on Latitude 24° 27' N to 31° 00' N, Longitude 80° 02' W to 87° 38' W being the largest state in the area. Florida share boarders with the Gulf of Mexico to the west, to the northwest by Alabama to the north by Georgia, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Straits of Florida. The largest city in Florida is Jacksonville.
Population: It is the 3rd most populated state in the country with an estimated population of about 21,733,312. This population consist of about 78% white, 14% African American and about 2% Asian.

Georgia (GA) - Atlanta
It joined the United States in 1788 as the 4th member state of the union. It is nicknamed "Peace state" or "the Empire State of the south" on other occasions.
Location/Geography: Georgia is the 24th largest state by area having a land area of 153,910km². It is located in the south Atlantic region on Latitude 30.356–34.985° N and Longitude 80.840–85.605° W. It share boarders with South Carolina to the East,
Population: It has an estimated population of about 10,617,423 people, making it the 8th most populated state in USA.

Hawaii (HI) - Honolulu
Its official nickname is ¨the Aloha state¨, it joined the United states in August 1959 as the 50th and last member of the union
Location/Geography: Hawaii is the 43rd state in the USA in terms of land area having a land area of 28,311 km2. It is located in the Pacific region on Latitude 18°55′ N to 28°27′ N and 154°48′ W to 178°22′ W. Hawaii is the southernmost U.S. state and like Alaska, does not border any other U.S. state. It is the only U.S. state that is not geographically located in North America, it is completely surrounded by water. Honolulu is its capital and largest city.
Population: It is the 40th state in terms of population having a total of over 1,415,872 residents as at 2020. This consist of over 38% Asian, 23% white, 10% native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders, 1% black Americans. Over 63% of this population identified as christians, 8% budhists, 0.5% Hindu, 0.5% Muslims and 0.5% Jewish.

Idaho (ID) - Boise
Officially nicknamed "the gem state", it joined the union in July 1890 as the 43rd member state of the USA.
Location/Geography: It is the 14th largest state in the USA having a land area of 216,443 km2. It is located in the mountain region on 44° 4' 5.5308'' N and 114° 44' 31.3548'' W. Its largest city and capital is Boise. It share boarders with Washington and Oregon to the west, Nevada and Utah to the south, and Montana and Wyoming to the east, and also shares a short border with the Canadian province of British Columbia to the north.
Population: It ranks 39th on the list of the largest states in terms of population having a estimate of about 1,787,065 people, it is the 11th least populated state in the USA. This population is composed of about 91% Caucasian, 1.4% Asian, 1.3% American Indian and 0.7% African American. As 2014, 69% of this population were estimated to be christians and 1% muslims.
